THE STORY BEHIND
Hello my name is Micelli.
In undergraduate studies (Univ. of Miami) i majored in biology and chemistry with a business minor (c/o 2011).
Post-graduation, I watched a Netflix documentary about sustainable farming where I realized food was another form of medicine.
In my M.b.a. graduate studies (Univ. of Miami) I focused on finance, real estate and management (c/o 2014).
our initial farm failed in 2014 after 6 months. we refocused our efforts on a retail business, with the knowledge that for our farm to be successful, we needed to have the produce sold before we even grew it.
We opened a Caribbean restaurant in 2016, and within a few months customers were asking for fresh bottled juices. Earthhouse was founded in 2017, where we started selling cold pressed juices from our restaurant.
After our THREE year lease was up, we decided to close. Our location was not great and our concept needed improving. We put all our equipment in storage until we determined the next steps.
The coronavirus outbreak did not affect our business as we were already closed. After other businesses started to reopen, we searched for a good location where we would focus only on our juice and drinks business, under the Earthhouse brand. We later decided to add smoothies and açai bowls to our menu and within 6 months our business was doing well.
Once we achieved a consistent amount of customers, we decided to invest in our own farm that would supply our store location with fresh produce and provide a source of organic produce directly to our customers and community.
We started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that will focus on the well-being of children who lack nutritional plant-based foods. We plan to work with social workers, schools, and liaisons to provide plant-based foods to the appropriate children, to fight hunger and provide more access to nutritious foods.
LET’S MAKE IT REAL!
